There are different clock-in models for recording shift entry and exit. Below is a description of each of the available systems and their different methods.
Smarthubs
This is a standalone clock-in device whose request must be managed through the Onboarding Consultant or the Account Manager, as it requires special processing.
As additional configuration, it must be connected to the internet, either by cable or network. If you have any questions, you can review the Configure network settings on Smarthub.
It has different clock-in methods:
Fingerprint reader.
Clock-in with DNI/NIE number (as indicated on the employee record; this is a numeric-only field).
Clock-in with DNI number and PIN code (in this case, configurable on the employee record).
QR code scanning*: the employee must use a mobile phone to scan the code.
*The QR code is a dynamic code that changes every 30 seconds.
POS App
To use the clock-in system, the application must be installed on the client's device. It is recommended to consult with the Onboarding Consultant or the Account Manager, as it may require a special request.
Note: The device can be a computer or tablet, but it must have Windows 10 or 11. Additionally, TeamViewer credentials will be required to carry out the installation.
It has different clock-in methods:
Fingerprint reader: a fingerprint reader connected to the terminal will be required.
Mobile application

It has different clock-in methods:
GPS clock-in.
Remote clock-in.
QR code scanning*: a Smarthub or POSAPP must be installed.
*The QR code is a dynamic code that changes every 30 seconds.

Easier access: Employees can quickly navigate to support resources from one location.
Improved experience: Support is now integrated directly into the product switcher.
** Please Note: These features were released on the 28.05.2026. Availability on iOS may take up to 24 hours due to Apple’s review process and will require the app to be updated to the latest version, v2113.22.46.
Mapal One Release - 19.05.2026
Features & Enhancements
Big and bold additions to the product. New functionality that changes what you can do.
Supporting Latam Region - Login – Region Selection Before Sign In
Mapal One now allows Employees to select their region before logging in, the options are Latam or Rest of World. The selected region will ensure Employees are connected to the correct login, services, and regional environment. Rest of World will be selected by default.
Why this matters Mapal One needs to support different regional services. Allowing Employees to choose their region before login will ensure they are routed correctly and can access the right services for their location.
Key benefits
Correct regional access: Employees will be connected to the right services based on their selected region.
Clear login experience: Region selection will happen before sign in.
Flexible support: Mapal One will support both Latam and Rest of World configurations.
Cleaner authentication: Email login will only be shown where it is supported.
Improvements
Refinements that make things smoother and better. Performance, usability and quality upgrades.
Workforce – Improved Holiday Settings Support
Mapal One now respects additional Holiday settings configured in Workforce, ensuring Employees only see the holiday information and options relevant to their organisation’s setup. This improvement extends support beyond the main Holidays setting and applies the configured visibility rules more consistently across the experience.
Why this matters This update expands support for Holiday configuration settings within Workforce, allowing Mapal One to deliver a more personalised and consistent experience for Employees across holiday-related areas.
Key benefits
Improved consistency: Holiday behaviour now aligns more closely with Workforce configuration.
Correct visibility: Employees will only see holiday information allowed by their settings
Better experience: Holiday data will display more accurately across Schedule and related areas.
More flexible configuration: Previous year visibility settings are now supported.
Learning – Visibility Based on Access Settings
Mapal One will only display the Learning section to Employees who have access to Flow-enabled learning functionality. Employees without Flow access will no longer see the Learning section in navigation or be able to access Learning pages directly.
Why this matters This improvement ensures the navigation experience remains relevant and focused for each Employee. By only displaying Learning features where they are available, Mapal One will provide a cleaner and more personalised experience.
Key benefits
Cleaner navigation: Employees will only see Learning when it is available to them.
Improved clarity: Unavailable sections and empty pages will no longer appear.
Better experience: Navigation will better reflect each Employee’s enabled products and access.
Consistent access control: Learning routes will only be accessible for Employees with Flow enabled.
Workforce – Improved QR Code Clock-In Security
Mapal One now has a timed expiry to QR code clock-in and clock-out actions, helping ensure attendance records remain accurate and up to date. If a QR action is not completed within the allowed time, Employees will be required to re-scan the QR code before continuing.
Why this matters Accurate attendance records are important for workforce visibility, reporting, and day-to-day operations. Applying an expiry window to QR code actions helps ensure clocking activity is recorded reliably and reflects real-time attendance behaviour.
Key benefits
Improved accuracy: QR clock-ins and clock-outs now expire if not completed promptly.
Better attendance integrity: Delayed or outdated signings can no longer be submitted.
Clearer process: Employees will be prompted to re-scan an expired QR code before continuing.
Consistent behaviour: The expiry logic now applies to both clock-in and clock-out actions.
** Please Note: These features were released on the 19/05/2026. Availability on iOS may take up to 24 hours due to Apple’s review process. Users will also need to ensure they update the app to the latest version.
Mapal One Release - 30.04.2026
Features & Enhancements
Big and bold additions to the product. New functionality that changes what you can do.
AI – Upgrade to Latest Version Mapal One was upgraded to use the latest version of the AI component, enabling access to new capabilities and improvements. This update supports enhancements such as document upload and search, while ensuring existing AI functionality continues to work as expected.
Why this matters Updating to the latest AI version allows Mapal One to benefit from ongoing improvements and new features. This ensures Employees have access to the most up-to-date AI capabilities.
Key benefits • Access to new features: Employees benefit from enhancements such as document upload and search • Improved performance: The latest version includes updates and optimisations • Future-ready: Mapal One stays aligned with ongoing AI development • No disruption: Existing AI functionality continues to work as expected
Evaluations – Hide Scores When Disabled Mapal One hid all scoring information in Evaluations when scoring was disabled. When an evaluation was configured without scores, Employees saw results without any score-related details.
Why this matters Some evaluations are intended to focus on completion rather than scoring. Previously, scoring information could still be displayed, which created confusion and did not reflect the intended configuration. This update ensures evaluations are presented correctly.
Key benefits • Clear presentation: Evaluations display results without scores when configured • Consistent behaviour: All evaluation views respect the scoring setting • Improved clarity: Employees see only relevant information based on the evaluation type • Flexible configuration: Supports different evaluation styles without impacting the experience
Engagement – View Likes on Comments Mapal One allowed Employees to see who has liked a comment on a post. This aligned the behaviour with how likes are displayed on posts. Employees can now view the list of colleagues who have liked a comment, providing clearer visibility of engagement within discussions.
Why this matters Previously, Employees could see who liked a post, but not who liked a comment. This inconsistency caused confusion and limited visibility within conversations. Aligning this behaviour created a more consistent and transparent experience.
Key benefits • Improved visibility: Employees can see who has liked a comment • Consistent behaviour: Comment likes follow the same interaction as post likes • Better engagement awareness: Employees better understand participation within discussions
Improvements
Refinements that make things smoother and better. Performance, usability and quality upgrades.
Workforce – Consistent Behaviour for Shifts and Holidays Settings Mapal One ensured that the application consistently respected the Shifts and Holidays settings across the Schedule and all related areas. Employees only saw shift and holiday information when those features were enabled for them. When either setting was disabled, the system removed the related information and actions while keeping the overall Schedule visible for other content.
Why this matters Previously, the behaviour of Shifts and Holidays settings was not always consistent. In some cases, information could still appear or areas could behave unexpectedly when a setting was disabled. This created confusion and made the application feel unreliable. This enhancement ensures the experience is clear, predictable, and aligned with how settings are intended to work.
Key benefits • Consistent experience: Shifts and Holidays only appear when enabled • Reduced confusion: Employees do not see irrelevant or unavailable features • Clear system behaviour: Settings behave predictably across all areas • Cleaner interface: Unavailable actions and sections are removed when not applicable
Bug Fixes
Issues we have resolved. Fixes to improve stability and reliability.
Engagement – Posts – File Deletion Behaviour Fixed an issue where deleting an attached file triggered an unexpected download before removal. Files are now removed directly without opening a new tab.
** Please Note:These features were released on the 30/04/2026. Availability on iOS may take up to 24 hours due to Apple’s review process.
Mapal One Release - 16.04.2026
Features & Enhancements
Big and bold additions to the product. New functionality that changes what you can do.
Goals – Flexible Goals Editing & Progress Mapal One will allow Employees to edit flexible goals while tracking progress. Employees will be able to update objectives, tasks, and progress at the same time, without restrictions. Flexible goals will not require locking or sign-off, allowing Employees to continuously refine their goals throughout the process. Why this matters Currently, some goals may become restricted once progress tracking begins, making it harder for Employees to update or refine their objectives. Flexible goals will remove these limitations and provide a more adaptable experience. Key benefits:
Continuous editing: Employees will be able to update goals at any time.
Immediate progress tracking: Progress can be tracked without additional steps.
No restrictions: Locking and sign-off will not apply to flexible goals.
Simpler experience: Goals can be refined and updated in one place.
Evaluations – Add Comments to Self-Assessment Scores Mapal One will allow Employees to add a comment when completing self-assessment scores within the Evaluations section. A text field will be available alongside scoring options, enabling Employees to explain the reasoning behind their selected score. The comment will be saved as part of the evaluation and will be visible to Managers during review. Why this matters Currently, Employees can provide scores but cannot explain the reasoning behind them. This can make it difficult for Managers to fully understand the context of a self-assessment. Adding comments will improve the quality of feedback and support more meaningful evaluation discussions. Key benefits:
Better context: Employees will be able to explain the reasoning behind their scores.
More informed reviews: Managers will have clearer insight when reviewing evaluations.
Improved feedback quality: Evaluations will include both scores and supporting comments
Consistent experience: Comments will be displayed alongside scores during review.
Behaviour summary:
A text field will be added below scoring options in the self-assessment section.
The field will be available for relevant question types (such as single choice and satisfaction questions).
Employees will be able to enter comments up to a defined character limit.
Comments will be saved as part of the evaluation response.
Managers will be able to view comments alongside scores during review.
Once submitted, comments will be viewable in read-only format.
The existing scoring logic and evaluation workflow will remain unchanged.
Golden Nuggets
Small changes, big impact. Quick wins inspired directly by your feedback.
Explore Learning – Role-Based Content on Dashboard
Mapal One will filter Explore Learning items on the Dashboard based on the Employee’s job role, ensuring that displayed content is relevant to their responsibilities.
The same filtering logic already used within the Explore Learning section will now be applied to Dashboard content for a more consistent experience.
Why this matters Currently, learning content on the Dashboard may not reflect an Employee’s role, even though filtering is applied within the Explore Learning section. This inconsistency can reduce relevance and create confusion.
Key benefits
More relevant content: Employees will see learning aligned to their job role.
Consistent experience: Dashboard content will match the Explore Learning section.
Improved engagement: Relevant suggestions will encourage more interaction with learning.
Cleaner Dashboard: If no relevant learning is available, the section will not be shown
Improvements
Refinements that make things smoother and better. Performance, usability and quality upgrades.
iOS – Location Permission Messaging Update
Mapal One will include a clear message explaining why location access may be requested on iOS devices. This ensures the app meets Apple’s requirements for transparency when accessing device features.
Why this matters Apple requires apps to clearly explain why certain permissions, such as location access, may be requested. Without this message, future app updates may be rejected, even if location services are not actively used. This is required for our expansion into LATAM.
Key benefits
Compliance with Apple requirements: Ensures future app updates can be submitted without issues.
Improved transparency: Employees will see a clear explanation if location access is requested.
No impact to functionality: This change does not affect how the app works.
Bug Fixes
Issues we have resolved. Fixes to improve stability and reliability.
External Links – Image Cropping Issue
Fixed an issue where images selected and cropped in Flow for External Links were being further cropped when displayed in Mapal One.
Images will now display exactly as configured, without additional cropping.
Login – Repeated Sync Error Messages
Fixed an issue where error messages related to Flow or Engagement sync were repeatedly displayed to Employees, eventually causing the session to time out.
The error will now display once, allowing the Employee to continue using Mapal One where access is available.
** Please Note: These features were released on the 16/04/2026. Availability on iOS may take up to 24 hours due to Apple’s review process.
Mapal One Release - 26.03.2026
Features & Enhancements
Big and bold additions to the product. New functionality that changes what you can do.
Employees can now share learning content from Explore Learning directly through Chat. A Share icon will appear on learning item tiles, enabling Employees to quickly recommend useful training to colleagues. When selecting the Share icon, Employees will be able to choose recipients and send the learning item through Chat with a link to access the content.
Why this matters Employees often discover valuable training within Explore Learning but have no simple way to recommend it to colleagues. Adding sharing will make learning more collaborative and encourage knowledge sharing across teams.
Key benefits
Easier knowledge sharing: Employees will be able to recommend learning content directly to colleagues.
Seamless experience: Learning items will be shared through the existing Chat experience.
Flexible sharing options: Employees will be able to share with up to five individual colleagues or one chat group.
Editable message: The shared message will include a default message that Employees can edit before sending.
Behaviour summary
A Share icon will appear on learning item tiles within Explore Learning.
Selecting the icon will open a chat sharing panel to choose recipients.
Employees will be able to share with up to five individual colleagues or chats.
The shared message will include:
the learning item title
a link to open the learning content
Sharing will only work for Employees who have access to both Explore Learning and Chat.
Engagement – Priority Messages
Mapal One now can show a Priority Messages, allowing Employees to receive and view urgent communications directly within the app. These messages will appear immediately on screen to ensure important updates are not missed.
Priority Messages will be used for time-sensitive information, such as operational changes, urgent notices, or important business updates.
Why this matters Businesses occasionally need to communicate urgent information to Employees quickly. Important updates can be missed or delayed. Priority Messages will provide a clear and immediate way to notify Employees about critical updates.
Key benefits
Immediate visibility: Priority Messages will appear instantly to ensure urgent updates are seen.
Clear urgency: Visual styling will indicate that the message requires attention.
Simple acknowledgement: Employees will be able to acknowledge the message with a single action.
Improved communication: Businesses will have a reliable way to communicate important updates to Employees.
Behaviour summary
Priority Messages will be delivered through a notification.
When the notification is received, a pop-up message will appear immediately on the page the Employee is currently viewing or via a push notification which when clicked will navigate to the feed.
The message will include visual indicators to highlight urgency.
Employees will have one available action: Acknowledge.
Selecting Acknowledge will close the message and allow the Employee to continue using the app.
Once acknowledged, the acknowledgement will be recorded within the Engagement system.
The priority message is configured in Engagement.
Engagement – Improve Visibility of Surveys and Polls
Mapal One has enhanced how Surveys and Polls are displayed across the platform to ensure Employees can easily discover and respond to Polls.
Polls will become more visible in several key areas of the experience. When a Poll is assigned to an Employee, it will appear in the “Required by You” section and the main Dashboard carousel, helping Employees quickly identify items that require their response. Within the Surveys and Polls page, both content types will also be displayed more evenly so Employees can immediately see available Surveys and Polls without needing to scroll or switch sections.
Why this matters
Polls are already available in Mapal One, but their visibility was limited. Employees may not always realise that new Polls are available, which can reduce participation and engagement. By surfacing Polls in key areas of the Dashboard and improving how Surveys and Polls appear within the Engagement page, Employees will more easily discover items that require their attention.
Key benefits
Improved visibility: Polls will appear in the “Required by You” section and the Dashboard carousel
Faster participation: Employees will immediately see when a Poll requires their response.
Increased engagement: Improved discoverability will help drive higher participation.
Golden Nuggets
Small changes, big impact. Quick wins inspired directly by your feedback.
Workforce – View Current and Future Holiday Preferences
Employees will now be able to view both current and future Holiday Preferences within the Shift & Absences ? Preferences section. This improvement will make it easier for Employees to understand what preferences they have submitted and when those preferences apply.
Holiday Preferences will also be displayed using a clearer layout aligned with the Assigned tab design, helping Employees quickly recognise the relevant week and year.
Why this matters Previously, Holiday Preferences only display entries for the current holiday year. This means Employees cannot see preferences that have already been submitted for future holiday periods, which can create uncertainty about whether their requests were recorded.
By showing both current and future preferences in a clearer format, Employees will have better visibility of their holiday planning.
Key benefits
Improved visibility: Employees will be able to view both current and future Holiday Preferences.
Clearer structure: Preferences will be organised by week and year for easier understanding.
Greater confidence: Employees will be able to confirm that their future holiday preferences have been recorded.
Consistent experience: The layout will align with the design used in the Assigned tab.
Improvements
Refinements that make things smoother and better. Performance, usability and quality upgrades.
Engagement – Anonymous Evaluations Visibility
Mapal One will clearly indicate when an evaluation is anonymous within the Evaluations section, helping Employees understand whether their feedback will be shared anonymously.
Why this matters Currently, there is no clear indication when an evaluation is anonymous, which can create uncertainty for Employees when submitting feedback.
Key benefits
Clear visibility: Employees will easily see when an evaluation is anonymous.
Increased confidence: Employees will better understand how their feedback is shared.
Improved transparency: Evaluation types will be clearly communicated.
Mapal One Release - 12.03.2026
Features & Enhancements
Big and bold additions to the product. New functionality that changes what you can do.
Engagement - Chat – Search Within a Conversation
Mapal One has introduced the ability for Employees to search within an individual chat conversation. A Search icon has been added to the Chat Detail view, allowing Employees to quickly locate specific messages without manually scrolling through long conversations.
Selecting the Search icon will open the conversation in Search mode, where Employees can enter a keyword and navigate between matched results.
Why this matters Previously, Employees had to manually scroll through chat conversations to find specific messages. In longer chats, this could be time-consuming and frustrating. Adding a dedicated search function will make it significantly easier to locate valuable information.
Key benefits
Faster message retrieval: Employees will be able to quickly search within a conversation.
Clear navigation: Up and down arrows will allow Employees to move between search results.
Visible match tracking: The number of matches and current position (for example, 2/8) will be displayed.
Focused search experience: The message entry field will be hidden in Search mode and replaced with a search bar for clarity.
Improved visibility: Matched messages will be briefly highlighted to make them easy to identify.
Workforce - Absences – Improved Date Validation Messaging
Mapal One now provides clearer feedback when an Employee selects an invalid date range while submitting an absence request. If the end date is earlier than the start date, the system will display a clear error message explaining that the selected date range is invalid.
To further prevent errors, once a start date is selected, the “To” date picker will only allow valid future dates. Dates before the selected start date will not be selectable.
Why this matters When an Employee selects an end date before the start date, the system blocks submission but does not clearly explain why. This can cause confusion and slow down the absence request process. Improving validation messaging will make the experience clearer and more intuitive.
Key benefits
Clear feedback: Employees will understand immediately why a date range is invalid.
Error prevention: The date picker will prevent selection of invalid end dates where possible.
Reduced frustration: Fewer failed submissions due to unclear validation rules.
Smoother submission process: Absence requests will be easier to complete correctly the first time.
Workforce – Updated Clock in Icon
Mapal One has updated the Clock In icon to a “stop-watch” icon to better represent time tracking functionality. The icon has been replaced to improve clarity and maintain consistency across products.
The updated icon is applied consistently across all relevant areas, including the Main Menu, Time and Attendance, Worked Time, and breadcrumb navigation.
Why this matters The previous icon does not clearly represent time tracking and may cause confusion. Updating to a stop-watch icon provides a clearer visual cue and improves consistency across Mapal products.
Key benefits
Clearer meaning: The new icon will more accurately represent time tracking.
Improved consistency: Icon usage will align more closely across products.
Better recognition: Employees will more easily associate the icon with Clock In functionality.
Mapal One – Updated Main Menu Icon
Mapal One has updated the main menu icon to a burger-style icon to align with standard navigation patterns. The previous “9 dot” icon will be with a more recognisable menu symbol.
The icon styling has also been updated to align with current design standards.
Why this matters The menu icon could be ambiguous and less recognisable as a navigation control. Updating to a burger-style icon improves familiarity and ensures clearer navigation across mobile and web experiences.
Key benefits
Clear navigation: The menu icon will be instantly recognisable as a navigation control.
Improved usability: Employees will find it easier to identify how to access the main menu.
Design alignment: The icon and styling will follow common user interface patterns.
Golden Nuggets
Small changes, big impact. Quick wins inspired directly by your feedback.
Engagement - Communications – Preserve Scroll Position
Mapal One now preserves the scroll position within the Communications feed when an Employee opens a forum or news post and then navigates back. The feed will return to the same position within the current session, allowing Employees to continue browsing without interruption.
Scroll position will reset only after a full-page refresh.
Why this matters When an Employee opens a forum or news post and then returns to the Communications feed, the page resets to the top. This disrupts browsing and forces Employees to scroll down again to find their previous place. In longer feeds, this creates unnecessary friction and interrupts the browsing experience.
Key benefits
Seamless browsing: Employees will return to the exact position they left in the feed.
Reduced frustration: No need to repeatedly scroll back down after viewing a post.
Consistent behaviour: This will apply across forum posts, news channels, and latest posts.
Session-aware design: Scroll position will be preserved within the session and reset appropriately on refresh.
Mapal One Release - 26.02.2026
Features & Enhancements
Big and bold additions to the product. New functionality that changes what you can do.
Engagement – Introducing Polls
Mapal One is pleased to introduce Polls as a new content type within Engagement. Polls will allow Employees to respond to a single-question vote designed to gather quick feedback or sentiment. Employees will be able to select one option from a list of answers and submit their vote.
The main menu and tab label have been updated from “Surveys” to “Surveys & Polls”, and content is grouped clearly under expandable sections for Surveys and Polls. Each section includes a total counter and support collapsible viewing for easier navigation.
Poll tiles will display a default Poll image or a configured image, include the number of days remaining, and show a clear status such as “Vote now” or “Voted.”
Please note, in our next release we will include Polls on the ‘Required by you’ and main ‘carousel’.
Why this matters Currently, Employees rely on Surveys for all feedback, even when a quick, single-question vote would be more appropriate. Introducing Polls will make it easier to gather fast feedback, increase participation, and provide a lighter-weight alternative to full Surveys.
Key benefits
Faster feedback collection: Employees will be able to respond to simple, single-question votes quickly.
Transparent participation status: Tiles will clearly show whether an Employee has voted or still needs to respond.
Optional results visibility: Where enabled, Employees will be able to view Poll results after voting, with totals displayed.
Simple voting experience: Employees will select one answer only, and once submitted, responses cannot be changed.
Behaviour Summary (covered within the experience)
Employees will select one answer only.
If an Employee selects Cancel, the Poll will close and no vote will be recorded.
If results viewing is enabled:
After voting, Employees will see the results screen with totals.
Results will remain viewable and update where applicable.
The Poll tile will remain visible until the Poll end date and will display “Voted” once completed.
Flow - Noticeboard – Correct Subcategory Order
Mapal One now displays Noticeboard subcategories in the correct ascending order, based on how they are configured in Flow. The order shown in Mapal One will now match the configuration set in Flow and will remain consistent across sessions and browsers.
Why this matters Noticeboard subcategories did not always appear in the expected order. For companies with three or more subcategories, the display order can appear reversed, creating inconsistency between the configured structure and what Employees see in Mapal One. This can cause confusion and reduce trust in the content layout.
Key benefits
Consistent presentation: Subcategories will appear in the correct ascending order as configured.
Alignment with configuration: The display in Mapal One will match the structure set in Flow.
Reliable experience: The order will remain consistent across different browsers and sessions.
Improved clarity: Employees will see Noticeboard content presented in a logical and predictable way.
Workforce – Improved Holiday & Absence Display
Mapal One now displays holidays using the specific absence name instead of a general group name. Holidays and absences are shown consistently as tiles within the Schedule view, rather than as blocked-off days.
Long absence names are also displayed more clearly within Schedule and Shift & Absences tiles. Where names are lengthy, the text is neatly truncated to ensure the layout remains clean and readable, without overlapping or breaking the design.
Why this matters Previously, holidays were shown using a general group label, which could make it unclear what type of absence had been recorded. In addition, long absence names could overflow within tiles, making the schedule appear cluttered or broken. These improvements ensure Employees can clearly understand their schedule at a glance.
Key benefits
Clearer absence information: Holidays now display the correct absence name.
Consistent schedule view: Holidays and absences appear as structured tiles within the Schedule view.
Improved readability: Long absence names are displayed neatly without disrupting the layout.
Better mobile experience: Shift & Absences tiles remain clean and easy to understand.
General update – Updated “What’s New” Link
Mapal One now directs the “What’s New” link to the new Knowledge Base page for release information. Employees selecting “What’s New” will be taken to the updated location where the latest Mapal One release updates are published.
Why this matters Previously, the “What’s New” link directed Employees to an outdated release page. This could cause confusion and meant Employees were not always viewing the most recent or relevant information. Updating the link ensures release information is accurate and easy to access.
Key benefits
Accurate release information: Employees are now directed to the correct Knowledge Base page.
Reduced confusion: The outdated release page is no longer used.
Improved transparency: The latest Mapal One updates are easier to find and review.
Better self-service: Employees can quickly access up-to-date release notes in one central location.
iOS Platform Update Requirement
Mapal One has been updated to meet Apple’s iOS 26 technical requirements for submitting updates to the App Store. Apple requires applications to be built using a supported development version, and our current version will no longer meet this requirement after the upcoming deadline.
Why this matters If this update is not completed before 1 April 2026, we will not be able to submit new releases, bug fixes, or urgent updates to the App Store. This would create a risk to ongoing product support and maintenance.
Key benefits
Continued App Store submissions: We will be able to release new features and updates without disruption.
Ongoing product support: Bug fixes and critical updates can continue to be delivered.
Compliance with Apple requirements: The application will meet Apple’s latest platform standards.
Mapal One Release - 12.02.2026
Features & Enhancements
Competencies – Self-Rating Notes
Learners are now able to add written notes when submitting a self-rating for a competency. This allows them to explain or expand on the rating they’ve selected, providing additional context alongside their self-assessment. The note is saved with the self-rating, can be viewed and edited by the learner, and includes a 500-character limit with a live character counter.
Why this Matters
Previously, learners could only submit a numeric self-rating, which lacks the context behind their choice. This made it harder for managers to understand the reasoning behind a score and limited the quality of follow-up conversations. Allowing learners to add notes improves clarity, reflection, and the overall review experience for both learners and managers.
Key Benefits
Better learner experience: Learners can explain their reasoning, reflect on progress, and add meaningful context to their self-rating.
More informed reviews: Managers can see why a rating was given, leading to clearer understanding.
Improved conversations: Additional context supports more constructive and focused discussions during competency reviews.
Clear input guidance: A 500-character limit with a live counter helps learners keep notes concise and relevant.
Surveys – Estimated Time to Complete
Mapal One now displays the estimated time required to complete a survey when a completion time has been configured. The time will be shown using the same format as Explore Learning to maintain a consistent user experience across the platform.
Why this Matters
Employees do not know how long a survey will take to complete before starting it. This can discourage participation or lead to surveys being abandoned partway through. Providing an estimated completion time helps employees plan appropriately and engage with surveys more confidently.
Key Benefits
Better time awareness: Employees will be able to see how long a survey is expected to take before starting it.
Improved completion rates: Clear expectations will help reduce drop-offs and incomplete surveys.
Consistent experience: Survey time will be displayed in the same format as Explore Learning, keeping the UI familiar.
Informed decision-making: Employees will be able to ensure they have sufficient time available to complete a survey.
Engagement – Flag a Post
Employees using Mapal One can now flag forum posts and news posts directly from the post itself. A three-dot (more options) menu will be available on posts, giving employees the ability to report content they believe is inappropriate or concerning. Users will not be able to flag their own posts.
Why this matters
Users need to be able to flag comments or chat to report to report inappropriate content at the post level. Extending flagging to forum and news posts will improve content moderation, help surface issues earlier, and support a safer and more trusted engagement space.
Key Benefits
Improved content safety: Users will be able to report inappropriate forum and news posts directly.
Consistent moderation experience: Post-level flagging will align with existing flagging behaviour for comments.
Clear user controls: The three-dot menu will provide an intuitive and familiar way to flag content.
Reduced misuse: Users will not be able to flag posts they have created themselves.
Workforce – Absence Request Availability
Mapal One will only display absence types that are configured as requestable in the database. Absence types marked as non-requestable are excluded from the absence selection dropdown, ensuring employees can only request valid and supported absence options.
Why this Matters
Previously, employees could see and request absence types that were configured as non-requestable, which could lead to confusion, invalid requests, and additional manual handling by managers. Aligning Mapal One with backend configuration ensures absence requests follow the intended business rules.
Key Benefits
Clearer absence selection: Employees only see absence types that are valid and requestable.
Reduced invalid requests: Prevents submission of absences that should not be requested.
Config-driven behaviour: Changes to requestable absence types are controlled via database configuration.
Improved efficiency: Less manual intervention needed to reject or correct invalid absence requests.
Improvements
Mapal One – Updated App Icon & Store Branding
Mapal One has been updated with a refreshed app icon and new App Store and Google Play Store images that reflect the approved Mapal brand. This update ensures the app’s visual identity aligns with current brand guidelines across the app icon and store presence.
Why this Matters
By ensuring the app icon and store imagery is kept up to date the product accurately represents the Mapal brand and delivers a more cohesive and professional experience for both existing and new users.
Key Benefits
Brand consistency: The app will reflect the approved Mapal colours and visual identity across platforms.
Improved first impressions: New users will see updated branding and imagery when viewing Mapal One in app stores.
Clear visual refresh: Existing users will see the updated app icon after updating the app, reinforcing the brand update.
Professional presentation: Store listings will better represent the Mapal product portfolio and brand standards.
Bug fixes
Shifts and Absences - incorrect start day showing on App | There were inconsistencies when showing the ‘start’ date of the week. In some instances this was a Monday and then other it would be a Tuesday. This has now improved to always start on a Monday. In addition to this, we also addressed an issue where employees were being shown ‘duplicate shifts’. This was due to not using a year filter on the shifts. If an employee had a shift for 02/02/25 and 02/02/26 it would previously have shown on the same day, 02/02. Where as we now will split it up and show it as 02/02/2025 etc.
Global Search – Counter | When there was a long tittle, the counter is not visible. This fix has addressed showing the longer titles better to the user.
